at the opening of the exhibition "My Russia" at the UN Office

27 January, Geneva

Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear colleagues and guests,

First of all, let me thank you for sharing this wonderful moment with us. It is an honour and a great pleasure for me to open the exhibition «My Russia» here in the United Nations Office in Geneva.

The exposition displays more than 30 works of art by professors and students from different regions of Russia incorporated in the creative union of the Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University. The posters and the oil paintings is a testament to a deep and sincere love for our Homeland. I am proud to present to you a small part of this love in the form of these works of art.

I am proud to mention that 2019 was a special year for the University. For more than a century, since its foundation in 1899, the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, one of the leading higher engineering schools in Russia and alma mater to a whole constellation of outstanding scientists, engineers and designers, has been successfully developing the traditions of Russian higher education. It is an essential part of the history of our country and I am convinced it will always remain a pillar and our pride for all of times.

The Permanent Mission of Russia pays particular attention to the interaction of the University with International Organizations in Geneva (such as the International Telecommunication Union and the World Health Organization) and stands ready to further promote fruitful cooperation between institutions of Russian higher education and International organizations.

It is an honour for me to welcome the rector of the St.Petersburg Polytechnic University professor Andrei Rudskoi at this significant event.

I wish you a pleasant time here while admiring the art works and I hope that they will inspire you to discover Russia from the inside.

Thank you for your attention.
